1 John 5:4 Meaning

December 11, 2018 Reading Time: < 1 minute

We still live in this world (and despite the demonic distortion, it is glorious), but we no longer belong to the world. We belong to Jesus. We have God (the Holy Spirit is a person of the Divine Trinity) in us. And our faith is the mighty power with which we can conquer all distress and tribulation victoriously believing:

“For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith.” (1 John 5:4; NLT)

Children of God defeat the enemy - 1 John 5:4 (NLT)

Don’t listen to what your body and soul say, but believe what God says about your spirit (your true self) — and He says that if you’re born again, you are holy, blameless, righteous, healed (yes, also physically), provided for, living in abundance.

That’s what you do with faith. Your faith is the power of victory. And what do you believe? You believe what God and Jesus promise you in the Bible. Protection. Safety, care, healing, goodness, grace and joy of life.

Matthew 9:29 (NIV)

Don’t see the healing yet? Keep believing. Don’t see the provision yet? Keep believing. The Bible says it will happen to you according to your faith.

I sing in the shadow of your wings – Psalm 63:7

December 10, 2018 Reading Time: < 1 minute

God does not respond to needs. Everyone has needs. But few have faith in the protection and help of God. But that’s what it’s all about; it’s about faith. The all-determining fundamental law in God’s Kingdom is faith.

“Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings.” (Psalm 63:7; NIV)

I sing in the shadow of your wings - Psalm 63:7 (NIV)

Is God with us in troubles?

We may go through troubles, but we can always be grateful that God protects, guides and helps us.

Don’t hope. Don’t doubt. Believe: “But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.“ (James 1:6-8; NIV)

Believe this: “Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.” (Ephesians 3:20; NLT)

What is the difference between soul and spirit?

December 9, 2018 Reading Time: < 1 minute

You consist of spirit (your true self), soul (feelings, mind, memories, etc), and body (your physical body).

Through faith, which is rooted in your spirit, you tell your soul the truth — not the other way around. Your soul (feelings, emotions, etc.) may feel defeated and exhausted, but in your spirit (your true self), you know through faith that you are victorious through Christ. An example from the Bible:

“Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.” (Psalm 42:12; NIV)

What is faith? And how do you strengthen it?

God is able to do more than we can even imagine

Feelings of sadness or hopelessness come from your soul. But by faith, you know that God will work everything out in your favor, and you trust God’s Word more than your feelings. • If God is for us, who can be against us? – Romans 8:31-33

Gratitude. The cleansing of the 10 Lepers

November 7, 2018 Reading Time: 2 minutes

Psalm 107:1 (NIV)

We thank God, no matter what the circumstances in our life may look like (whether they were caused through our own foolishness, or through the evil of devil and demons). Why would we be thankful when the refrigerator explodes, the dog died and the washing machine is on fire? Because we know that God will always help us. “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.” (Psalm 107:1; NIV)

  • God — our mighty Helper

Are you one of the nine who weren’t grateful?

Jesus was on the border of Samaria and Galilee. “As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance and called out in a loud voice, ‘Jesus, Master, have pity on us!’ When he saw them, he said, ‘Go, show yourselves to the priests.’ And as they went, they were cleansed. One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan. Jesus asked, ‘Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?’ Then he said to him, ‘Rise and go; your faith has made you well.'” (Luke 17:12-19; NIV)

Not grateful for sanctification

By His bloody sacrifice on that wooden cross in Jerusalem some 2,000 years ago, Jesus made anyone who believes in His finished work “holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.” (Hebrews 10:10; NIV) Believing and accepting Jesus’ finished work is different than just those “Christians” who say “Lord, Lord” — see Matthew 7:21. All debt is paid; all sins forgiven; our promissory note with God completely and permanently paid off. Hell is no longer an issue. That’s the good news.

Made holy forever. Become aware of your true identity as a Jesus-Sheep, which was paid for by your Savior. “For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.” (Hebrews 10:14; KJV)

All guilt forgiven. Not a sinner anymore, but a saint. Can you accept that?

Jesus-distant “Christians” don’t see themselves as new creatures who have been made righteous by the sacrifice of Jesus in their true self, their spirit created in God’s image (Genesis 2:7). These lost ones still see themselves as sinners (and not as saints), placing themselves in the time before the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross and beg again and again for the forgiveness of their sins. Gratitude, for the most powerful sacrifice ever made in human history, looks different.

Say (!) this: Thank You, Jesus, for Your sacrifice for me. You have forgiven all my sins. You opened the door to God for me, which can never be closed again. What a joy! Thank You (or, of course, in your own words).
