Whom should we be afraid of?
Whom should we fear? What could still frighten us?
For You, the Lord of all lords, You are our salvation.
“The Lord is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?” (Psalm 27:1; NIV)
And we do not want to be afraid of what could come in the mailbox anymore. And we do not want to be afraid anymore when the phone rings. And we do not want to be afraid of the future in the evening. For You, the greatest and most powerful, You are with us. You are our salvation and our protection.
“One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple. For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock. Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me” (Psalm 27:4-6; NIV)
We’ll get you down, the enemies sadness and fear of the future shout.
Oh no, we respond, you cannot get us down. You have lost. You have no more power over us. Our Jesus has defeated you for all eternity.
And so our enemies depression and despair are far away from us, and have to watch how our God prepares a table before us in the presence of our enemies and fills our cup until it overflows with His blessing.
“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.” (Psalm 23:5; NIV)
You always help us, You glorious God.
Don’t be afraid anymore, do not be scared anymore. Don’t you know who helps you with His right hand and will never, never, never leave you helpless or defenseless?
“The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.” (Psalm 28:7; NIV)
Yes, You are our strength. You are our protection. And we trust You, we trust You, we trust You. And we are happy.
God is always at your side
Your God will not leave you hanging. Your God will not leave you. Your God is helping by your side. Sadness and fear and worry will not get you down. “O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you restored my health. You brought me up from the grave, O Lord. You kept me from falling into the pit of death.”(Psalm 30:2-3; NLT)
Oh no, God will not let you die. Never again. For for all eternity, from eternity to eternity, you belong to God.
Here, this is what your God says to you: “They will fight you, but they will fail. For I am with you, and I will take care of you. I, the Lord, have spoken!” (God in Jeremiah 1:19; NLT) What are you scared of? What are you still afraid of?
God “has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.’ So we say with confidence, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?'” (Hebrews 13:5-6; NIV) Today is the day that you will remember because today is the day on which you started to be less and less afraid. You are a child loved by God above all else. Nothing can happen to you.
