Relying on God

June 11, 2017 Reading Time: 2 minutes

It’s a common mistake for Jesus-believers to think that they will never experience distress and hardships. On the contrary, us Jesus-believers are the devil’s and demons’ favorite target.

So when devils and demons throw you roadblocks in your way, it shows you that you are on the right track. Rejoice when troubles come (not because of the obstacles, but because your God will more than help you in mighty ways). Because nothing that devils and demons throw at you can really hurt you. Your Jesus has all power; not only in heaven, but also here in this world (Matthew 28:18).

Jesus has defeated all adversity and adversaries (“Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” – Jesus in John 16:33; NLT)

Psalm 62:6-7

Of course we take care of things in this world that need to be done. So do not wait for God to write the letter to the utility company, asking them to allow you to make payments on your overdue balance. Write the letter yourself. But always standing on Jesus, our Rock, believing full well that God is our mighty help: “You are the one who gives us victory over our enemies; you disgrace those who hate us. O God, we give glory to you all day long and constantly praise your name.” (Psalm 44:7-8)

God is there even though we may feel forgotten and abandoned

Know this: You do not have to see God and Jesus; just believe that they are with you. You also do not have to feel God and Jesus; believe that God and Jesus are helping you, protecting you, caring for you, and guiding you. Then Jesus told him, “You believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who believe without seeing me.” (John 20:29; NLT)

If you understand what He means by “blessed”, then you will gladly believe without seeing (and without feeling), because “blessed” means favored, joyous, happy, satisfied and fortunate. So, faithfully believe what God and Jesus tell us in the Bible. The steady increase of your understanding of your identity as a Jesus-believer gradually changes your life for the better in all areas.
