Psalm 34:6 (KJV)
Distress and lack are part of the life of this world whose ruler is the devil (1 John 4:4). But our Jesus also has all power on earth (Matthew 28:18) and has overcome all distress and lack for us (John 16:33). We belong to Jesus; We live in this world, but we do not belong to the world (John 17:14), we belong to Jesus (Philippians 3:20).

What is pressing you?

  • Loneliness
  • Sadness
  • Hopelessness
  • Financial lack
  • Life displeasure
  • Aimlessness

Sometimes there’s a whole army of annoyances in our living room and just will not leave.

I cannot do it anymore, we say and really mean it.

No problem, says our God, I’ll gladly help you.

And this is your certainty, no matter who or what presses you. This is your Bible-based certainty right through the middle of all the trouble:

“This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.” (Psalm 34:6; KJV)

This is really hard, we say.
Oh, says God, don’t worry. Nothing is impossible for me, and I love to help you. You’re the apple of my eye; I never — you hear — let you fall.

And we no longer try to wrestle our worries while lying in bed, but simply rest — with confidence — in the gloriously protective and gloriously safe arms of our God.

You do not have to be scared. I’ll help you. Did I tell you how much I love you?, says God.

No, we lie because we want to hear it again, You haven’t told me yet.
Of course I love you, says our God.
And we sigh with relief and say: I didn’t hear You; what did You say?
And God smiles and says: I love you.
