Will the sadness ever stop? - Psalm 34:18-19 (NIV)
And there comes a moment when we don’t even remember how many days we’ve been alone, because there are so, so many.

And we don’t remember how many nights we were in bed and didn’t understand what our life had turned into, because there were so, so many nights of loneliness and despair.

And then comes the moment when we don’t remember how many tears we’ve cried because there were so, so many.

None of our tears are forgotten by God

And our God? He does not forget our suffering. He dries our tears. Because: “You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.” (Psalm 56:8; NLT)

And our God? He tells us this: “… I have heard your prayer and seen your tears. I will heal you …” (God in 2 Kings chapter 20, verse 5; NLT)

  • And we love the one who loves us.
  • And we trust the one who loves us.
  • And we stand believing in the one who loves us.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all” (Psalm 34:18-19; NIV)

  • And so we do not lose heart because we trust our God.
  • And so we look to our God when there is nothing left to look at.

It hurts so much, my God, we tell Him.
Take me away from the battlefield of pain and desperation, we tell him. I cannot do it anymore.

And our God? He makes everything, everything, everything better again.

And we? We will say, “You have turned my mourning into joyful dancing. You have taken away my clothes of mourning and clothed me with joy” (Psalm 30:11; NLT)

God doesn’t just hold you, He also helps you

Because through all the tears, our God has given us these beautiful promises (and God keeps His word): “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them. I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.” (God in Psalm 91:14-16; NLT)
