Sanctify them through… Car accidents, chronic illnesses and flooded basements?

August 29, 2017 Reading Time: 2 minutes

As long as humans do not recognize God, they run the risk of being seduced by the devil, the old liar, by his lies.

Religions represent God to us as an evil, punishing judge who is angry because of our sins and is only waiting to punish us.

Question: Would you like such a father? Do you trustingly commit yourself to such a father when you make mistakes?
No. And that is exactly what the devil wants to do to keep us from God.

What are the facts?
God is not angry with us

Jesus shows us God as He really is. Full of love for us, ready to sacrifice even Jesus so that we can be free from all our guilt.
In and with Jesus, God has reconciled the world (that is, you) with Himself (2 Corinthians 5:19).
In and with Jesus, God offers every human being the free grace to be completely free from all guilt forever. With Jesus as our Savior and Lord, we belong to the family; we’re forever daughters and sons of God.

God will not punish us then.
Don’t believe the lie that God gave you a broken spine in a car accident because he wants to tell you something.
God also does not need any disease to work on and with you.
And also no storms, or flooded basements.

Did Jesus ask God for diseases for us?

How then does God work with us? Just as Jesus says. Jesus says to our Creator, “Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth.” (John 17:17; NLT)
Or, in another translation of the Bible, “Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.” (John 17:17; NIV)

God does not purify us and turn us into the person we’re meant to be by sending diseases to our bodies, or by punishing us somehow, but God is working on and with us through his “word, which is truth.” Where can we find it? You’ve probably already guessed. That’s right. In the Bible.

No diseases, but “only” words of truth

There is no evil from God. God does not lead you into temptation either. God allows temptations as tests, so that we may grow.

And God certainly doesn’t send illnesses, tragedies or disasters into your life because He wants to talk to you. God speaks to you in His Word. So, open the Bible every day. Better still: Don’t even close it anymore.

Do you want to believe that God works with you with diseases and disasters? What kind of father would that be who pushes his child out of the kitchen window on the 4th floor to stand down there and say, ‘Listen, please.’

Or do you want to believe what your best friend says? Jesus, “Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth.” (John 17: 17; NLT)

Do you want to be guided and taught by your Creator? Then (daily) reading of God’s Word is essential. It starts the most exciting and beautiful trip you’ll ever experience.
