God’s promise of fruitfulness for you – Jeremiah 17:8

May 5, 2018 Reading Time: 2 minutes

Even when there is financial lack or drought in the world, God’s Word says that His children will be trees planted by the waters — never ceasing to yield fruit.

Jeremiah 17:8 (KJV)

“For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.” (Jeremiah 17:8; KJV)

Or in the New International Version:

“They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” (emphasis added by me)

Our God is our great Provider. Even when your colleagues are living paycheck to paycheck; even when your friends seem to never have enough; God’s Word says that we shall have no worries when there’s drought and we never fail to bear fruit. Why? Because:

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” (Jesus in John 15:5; NIV)

Enjoy your place as a branch, deeply rooted in Jesus — your vine. His life, His supply and His abundance flow into and through you. Not only will you bear much fruit for you and your family to enjoy; you will have so much abundance from your lovely Jesus that you will have plenty to share.

  • God wants to supply your needs. Do you believe Him?
  • God likes it when we depend on Him

Don’t think you have to provide for yourself. Don’t think it’s all up to you. Yes, of course, we work diligently and go to work. But our supply does not come from our own self-effort. Even that job that gives you a paycheck every couple weeks comes from God as a gift to pour out His provision into your life.
