No fear in love – 1 John 4:18

May 27, 2018 Reading Time: < 1 minute

It’s not about our love; it’s all about the perfect love (Jesus) with which God meets us.

No fear in love - 1 John 4 18

Through Jesus, our debt has been paid to God once and for all. God no longer sees our transgressions and sins (Hebrews 8:12, Hebrews 10:17); God sees us through our flawless sacrificial Lamb, our loving Jesus.

We no longer need to have any fearful guilt, because we will not be punished any more because Jesus was punished in our place.

  • Bible verse that hypocritical religious people like to overlook. God works, not us
  • You no longer need to be afraid of sudden disaster

“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” (1 John 4, verse 18; NIV)

Faith in Jesus’ work makes us righteous and holy before God (Colossians 1:22). Jesus is our righteousness before God. “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 5:1; NIV)
