What does the Bible say about food rules? That they don’t save us.

October 14, 2017 Reading Time: < 1 minute

No man is righteous before God through any food laws or restrictions. God has provided only one way (John 14:6) through which we are justified: Jesus. Grace came through Jesus (John 1:17). It’s given to us without us having to do anything (Ephesians 2:8-9).

Hebrews 13:9

The devil tries everything in his power to lead people away from Jesus. For the devil knows that it is only the grace, which is given to us in and by Jesus, which justifies us before God, so that we are reconciled forever with our Creator.

The devil wants to lead people away from Jesus, God’s grace

For example, he tells people the lie that they are going to be reconciled with God by adhering to food restrictions. This is, of course, false as anything else that comes from the devil. The Bible makes it clear that food commandments are of no use; it is only the grace:

“So do not be attracted by strange, new ideas. Your strength comes from God’s grace, not from rules about food, which don’t help those who follow them.” (Hebrews 13:9; NLT)

Be wise. Do not fall for false doctrines, which the Bible warned about 2,000 years ago. These false doctrines try to get you to believe the lie that you could be saved from the hell by keeping food regulations and rules. The opposite is the case. Only through God’s grace do we become justified before God: “It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!” (Ephesians 2:5; NLT)
