How can a loving God send people to hell? God does not send anyone to hell. People make the wrong choice

July 9, 2017 Reading Time: 2 minutes

Included with the misunderstandings about God’s being is that people claim God would send people to hell. But He does not. On the contrary, God has no pleasure in the fact that human beings will suffer forever in the horror of hell (Lake of Fire).

God has no pleasure in seeing people end up in hell. “Do you think that I like to see wicked people die? says the Sovereign Lord. Of course not!” (God in Ezekiel 18:23; NLT) – death is not just the earthly death in this context, but the spiritual death, that is, the eternal separation of God (which will be the case in hell). “I don’t want you to die, says the Sovereign Lord. Turn back and live!” (God in Ezekiel 18:32; NLT)

God’s desire is that no man shall fall for the lies of the devil, but find reconciliation with God and eternal life. Since no one can make it to heaven by his own effort, by leading a perfectly perfect life, God offers us the way through Jesus: God “who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth. For, There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus. He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message God gave to the world at just the right time.” (1 Timothy 2:4-6, New Life Bible Translation)

  • What does the Bible say about hell?

It is then people who say to God: Stay away with your crap and reject or ignore the helping, stretched out hand of Jesus.

1 Timothy 2:4

Since God respects our free will, people who do not wish to be reconciled with God will ultimately get what they want. Namely, a life without God. And this is only possible in hell (the lake of fire).

To be fully reconciled with God, Jesus was sent. He (not our endeavor to keep the commandments, not Mary as our mediator, not any rituals) is the mediator between God and us. Have you already accepted Jesus as your Savior to ensure that your whereabouts in eternity are the presence of God?
