You are reconciled with God, not because you live a perfect life 24 hours a day and 365 days a year, but solely because of what Jesus did for you. He took all the blame for all your sins some 2,000 years ago; in Him, all your sins have been punished once and for all; He has destroyed your sin-debt forever.
What Jesus did for you is what counts. In the New Covenant, which God made with us through Jesus, it’s not about our actions, but all about what Jesus did. That hurts human pride, but that is God’s way for our eternal reconciliation with Him.
“Therefore, my friends, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. Through him everyone who believes is set free from every sin, a justification you were not able to obtain under the law of Moses.” (Acts 13:38-39; NIV)
