In this earthly, worldly system, we are used to being measured and judged against an average grade or standard. Not so with God. Since God is absolutely perfect and one hundred percent holy, He cannot bear the slightest sin in His presence. God literally doesn’t even look at evil and sin. We learn about God:
“Your eyes are too pure to look on evil; you cannot tolerate wrongdoing.” (Habakkuk 1:13; NIV)
We need the purifying, cleansing bath in the grace of Jesus, which makes us blameless and holy before and for God in our true self, our spirit. Thank God He gives us this undeserved grace. Thanks to Jesus, we are no longer sinners to be forgiven, but we are saints who unfortunately still sin from time to time.
“But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation” (Colossians 1:22; NIV)
And this is the only reason God can say about us Jesus-sheep: “And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.” (God in Hebrews 10:17; KJV). Not because our sins do not matter, but because God has once and for all punished all our past, present and future sins in Jesus. Jesus was punished so we can be free. What good news indeed!
