Where does our strength come from? In quietness and confidence in God’s help

February 17, 2019 Reading Time: < 1 minute

Isaiah 30:15 (NLT)

People have never chosen the path to be blessed and cared for by God. Instead, they relied on their own earthly-worldly strategies.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6; NIV)

God is clear: “Only in returning to me and resting in me will you be saved. In quietness and confidence is your strength. But you would have none of it.” (God in Isaiah 30:15; NLT)

He who is afraid of God does not find God

Those who don’t know God and His glorious nature or who still see themselves as sinners and are afraid of God, despite the sacrifice of Jesus, cannot have faith and stand in the land of rest completely trusting God without ifs, ands or buts.

Human beings have all these problems because they lack knowledge of the true nature of God: “My people are being destroyed because they don’t know me.” (Hosea 4:6; NLT)

Is God delaying His grace?

Don’t be surprised if things don’t go right in your (faith) life. God’s mercy, help and grace will not come to you if you don’t trust Him and walk faithfully into His comforting rest. This is what the Bible says: “Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!” (Isaiah chapter 30, verse 18; New International Version)

Say (!) this: Help me, dear God, that I recognize the sacrifice of Jesus for my sanctification and accept it believing without ifs, ands or buts.
