You have nothing to do with the darkness. Thanks to Jesus, you belong to the light

August 15, 2017 Reading Time: 2 minutes

There is absolutely no evil from God in your life. In God, there is no darkness: “God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.” (1 John 1:5; NIV)

Jesus is a part of the triune God. In Jesus, there is also no darkness: “In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” (John 1:4-5; NIV)

1 Thessalonians 5:5

Devils and demons are dark. And they are the ones causing diseases, for example. Recognize your identity as a child of God through Jesus (“Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God” – John 1:12; NIV).

You are no longer in the darkness. The darkness cannot really harm you. “You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness.” (1 Thessalonians 5:5; NIV)

A freeing and calming relationship with God

As a daughter of God or as a Son of God, you have a gloriously liberating and calming communion with God; Now, here in this world already. You are – since the acceptance of Jesus as your Savior – citizens of God’s Kingdom (Philippians 3:20); You still live here in the world, but you are no longer part of the world: “You do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world.” (Jesus in John 15:19; NLT)

You are under the secure protection, the sheltered care and the comprehensive provision of God. Even sins, which you unfortunately commit time and again, do not separate you from God, because Jesus took the punishment for all your sins about 2,000 years ago. There is no condemnation or punishment for a believer in Jesus (Romans 8:1). Your debt with God was paid for by Jesus on the cross (Colossians 2:13-14).
