Meaning of John 12:47 (NIV)

Even Christians easily forget the most important thing, which is:

“I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world.”
(Jesus in John chapter 12, verse 47; NIV)

Fear is always bad. Fear paralyzes, fear robs us of joy of life and energy. Organized religion has made God seem like a bad-tempered, punitive judge. But Jesus put the facts straight again: God loves us. God wants us to be saved. God has sent Jesus so that we can put all of our guilt and shame and sin on Jesus.

God has punished all of our guilt in Jesus. Once and for all. Do not forget that. God does not hold it against you anymore. You are blameless, righteous and holy before God (Colossians 1:22).

Build your relationship with God on this glorious foundation that Jesus acquired for you. You don’t have to be afraid of God anymore. Not even today.
