Why read the Bible?

July 24, 2018 Reading Time: < 1 minute

God's Word is active and alive - Hebrews 4:12 (NIV)
It is one thing to be born again by believing and accepting what Jesus did for you, to be saved and to be born again in your spirit, in your true self. But then, to continue to expand your faith and develop it more and more into a victorious power is another step (or many, many steps) in our life with God.

“for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.” (1 John 5:4; NIV)
  • “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (Jesus in John 8:31-32; NIV)
  • “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.”(Jesus in Matthew 7:24-25; Bible)
  • “Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment” (1 Peter 2:2; NLT)
  • “And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.” (Acts 20:32; KJV)
